Transport Canada Approves New Rail Safety Guideline - "Request to Depart from Applicable Engineering Standards"
Transport Canada's Director General, Rail Safety today approved the Rail Safety Program Guideline - ASRB 002 entitled "Request to Depart from Applicable Engineering Standards". This guideline is to provide advice to persons proposing to undertake railway work, as contemplated in subsection 10(1) of the Railway Safety Act for which Ministerial approval is required before undertaking any railway work. It clarifies the information and documentation required for a proper application to the Minister, in order that a determination can be made as to whether the proposed railway work is consistent with safe railway operations.
