Transport Canada's Director General, Rail Safety today approved the Rail Safety Program Guideline - ASRB 001 entitled "Railway Application for an Exemption or Filing of a Notice of Exemption".  This document is intended to provide guidance to railway companies.  Its purpose is to clarify the safety and information requirements that must be satisfied in order for the Minister to determine whether an exemption is in the public interest and not likely to threaten safe railway operations.
